After tasting friends hamburger barbecue and what was on the market. I just knew I had to come up with something better. This is how Rap's BBQ sauce in 1972 started.

When I developed a sauce I used it exclusively for hamburger barbecue. After a while people starting getting me to make barbecue for them, because they enjoyed it so much. I figured it would be easier for me to sell the sauce, and have them make their own barbecue.  Before you knew it, people started using the sauce for all kinds of foods. Like, chicken, pork, spam, pizza, spaghetti, and fish. In other words any food they enjoyed barbecue sauce on. In 1984 I started bottling the sauce, and then started getting requests for other flavors. Over the years I have come up with several different kinds, and even some rubs.

The name Rap's World came from my nickname Rap. Which I received from H. Rap Brown who was a militant (which I am not) during the 1960's. People starting calling me this, since my last name was Brown.
